Ethel Louise Zehntner Musgrove died peacefully on April 13th at the age of 98. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Arnold) Blair, and two sons, Walter Musgrove and John (Sue) Musgrove. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Musgrove, a grandson, JonChris Musgrove and a great grand-daughter Randi Bond.
Ethel was born at the Zehntner homestead north of White Sulphur Springs on Newlan Creek on July 28th, 1916. She was the second child of Reinhart and Dovie McAfee Zehntner. Shortly after that, the family moved into the Springs where Ethel grew up and attended school.
On August 5th, 1936, Ethel married Jack Musgrove, the love of her life. The two of them sharecropped in Darby, Montana before returning to their home community of White Sulphur where the rest of their years were spent and where she called home. The three Musgrove children were born at the home of Jack and Ethel.
Ethel was an accomplished pianist and organist, giving many years of lessons and acting as the Presbyterian Organist while the congregation was still using the Old Presbyterian Church. Always good to children, Ethel and Jack boarded many out of town youngsters who came in to attend school. After Jack passed away, Ethel took care of younger children for working parents, not only during the day, but after school too.
Our Day Out or ODO Club saw Ethel as a Charter Member, a club that she belonged to until going out became too difficult for her. She was also an avid tatter, knitter and crochet artist, making beautiful items, but lately becoming known statewide for her knitted dishcloths.
Ethel lived at home until the past three years at which time she moved in with Barb and Arnie Blair, only going to the hospital on April 13th.
She has eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren
