Alfred Lloyd Myles passed away Thursday, August 3rd. He was born to Robert Herd Myles and Florence Helen (Marks) Myles of Winston, MT on April 19, 1940. Al attended schools at Clasoil, East Helena and Townsend. He graduated in 1958 and entered the Army National Guard. He was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and sent to Germany in April 1959, stationed there during the building of the wall. During his Army service, Al earned many rifle sharpshooting awards.
Al was discharged from the Army in 1960 and bought the family ranch in 1961. He worked alongside his father, and continued to do so after his father’s passing. He married Molly Sue Alex on November 18th 1962.
Al was a volunteer fireman with Winston Fire Department for many years, and was Fire Chief during some of that time.
After retiring from the ranch, Al and Molly travelled the Southwest and Western US. Even during retirement, he couldn’t stay still. He helped neighbors with combining and driving truck whenever possible.
Al was well known for loving to dance, telling stories, and enjoying a good beer with friends.
Al and Molly were married for 54 years and had two daughters, Kerri and Connie.
Al was preceded in death by his wife Molly in March of this year. He was also preceded by his parents Robert and Florence, brother Harold Myles, sister Margaret Glynn and nephew Kenneth Myles. He is survived by daughters Kerri (Scott) of East Helena, and Connie (John) York, SC.; three grandchildren Joshua Meng, Myrtle Beach, SC; Zachary Meng, Oakdale, CT; and Kelly Moldenhauer (Kayleigh) East Helena; two great-grandchildren Makayla and Cooper Moldenhauer, brother in law Don Glynn, niece Lori Williams, nephew Gary Glynn, nephew Ralph Myles, niece Candy.
A funeral service celebrating Alfred’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday August 11th at Trailhead Christian Fellowship Church, 20 Trailhead Dr. in Townsend. Burial will immediately follow the service at Deep Creek Cemetery in Townsend. A reception will follow burial at the Commercial Bar, 101 Broadway Townsend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to charity or foundation of your choice.
