Carman G. Ross, age 87, of Townsend

Carman Gail Ross, Townsend, Mt passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, July 31, 2016. Carman was the beloved husband & soulmate of Patsy Joan Ross. Dad was born Carman Gail Ross in Lynch, Nebraska, January 30, 1929. He married Patsy Joan Berry June 26, 1949.  Patsy was his inspiration and the love of his life. His heart was broken on Patsy’s passing March 22, 2015. They had 5 children, 9 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren.

Carman was the best painter/drywaller on the planet and passed his skills on to sons and daughters alike! Dad was seriously injured in a construction accident on October 31, 1978 while painting a high school auditorium. He never worked harder than the following 2 years during his rehabilitation. With his ever-devoted loving wife Patsy at his side, Carman survived and thrived. This amazing couple went on to provide a multitude of beautiful memories for many – family and friends alike. Carman was an inspiration for all whose lives he touched to be positive and encouraging. His beautiful blue eyes, wonderful laugh, and playful grin never failed to put a smile on your face and lift your heart. Carman (and Patsy) enjoyed bird watching, camping, gardening, and most of all fishing with their children and grandchildren. Any time spent with family was treasured. Carman and Patsy’s unconditional love was the glue that binds – forever.

Carman is survived by five children: son Danny Ross; wife Ginny (Kennewick, WA) & children Shannon (Dickhaus) (husband Brady & children Carter, Logan, & Natalie) Danelle (Zavala) husband Felipe, & Carly, all of Kennewick, WA, daughter Debbie Goodyear, husband Ted (Townsend, MT) & children Kyle (children Tori & Kaden) Belgrade, MT & Jason (wife Nichole & son Tyler) Bozeman, MT, daughter Sue Fairchild (Randall Louder), son Andrew Gustafson (wife Amiee & children Mahala, Macee, & Anders, Bozeman, MT), son Ron Ross, wife Ginger & children Cory (son Ryder, Belgrade, MT) & Josh (children Gage & Dylan, Bozeman, MT) & Linda Ross(daughter Jessie Sumner, WA), sister-in-law Barb Howard(husband Beej) Stickney, SD, & brother-in-law Ward Messing (Idebel, Ok.), brother Derald Duane Ross (wife Joyce) Three Forks, MT, sisters JoAnn Kiefer (husband Donald), Sumner, WA, & Dixie Darlene (husband Sonnie)Thomson, Puyallup. WA, Bonnie Pugh, Portland, OR, sisters-in-law Coralee (husband Richard Lyle), Vivian (husband Donald Durl), and Paula Berry (Robert Berry) as well as numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

Carman was preceded in death by his mother Bessie Mae Ryan Ross and father Richard Lyle Ross, five brothers (and spouses) Richard Lyle, Donald Durl, Robert Eugene (wife June), Norman Keith (wife Dee), Douglas and four sisters (and spouses) Dorothy June Wells (husband Howard), Betsy Joy Tinglehoff (husband George), Gladys Loraine Brummier (husband Lee), Donna Maxine Kirk (husband Homer) and brothers-in-law Roy Messing and Robert Berry (Paula).

Burial with Military Honors will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16^th at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison. A memorial service celebrating Carman’s and Patsy’s lives will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 16^th at the Trailhead Christian Fellowship Church 20 Trailhead Dr, Townsend. A reception will follow the memorial service in the social hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Meals on Wheels program for Townsend, Mt. (Townsend Senior Center, PO Box 693, Townsend, MT 59644).
