On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, Coralee Jayne Horne died peacefully in her sleep at Serenity Point Assisted Living in Townsend, MT. She was born May 2, 1939 in Townsend, MT, the seventh child of Warren and Irma Horne.
Although Cora was never blessed with her own children, there were several children blessed to have her as their nanny, aunt, and honorary grandma. She also worked at the Skidway Ski Hill up Deep Creek and worked as a housekeeper at the Anaconda Hospital. Cora was always bust helping others, volunteering at the Broadwater Hospital in Townsend helping her loving friend Jackie Kynett with activities.
Cora was a member of the Broadwater Health Center Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Women, and Catholic Quilters.
Cora was very well known for her good eats: caramels, caramel rolls, butter horns, angel food cakes, chocolate cake with caramel icing and chocolate or caramel popcorn. She baked and entered many of her goods for the local Broadwater County Fair, winning several Best of Shows, purple and blue ribbons.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents (Warren and Irma Horne), sisters Bonnie, Dorothy, Lorna, Charlene (Sherry), and Vickie; brothers Ray and Jay; nephews Dean, James, Bruce; and a niece Kathy.
Cora is survived by sisters Billie Marie Thornes of White Sulphur Springs, Geraldine (Doug) White of Judith Gap, MT, and Paddy (Roann) Horne of Clinton, MT; 28 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her great friends Jackie Kynett and Audrey Plymale.
Viewing is scheduled from 3:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4, 2023 at Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home in Townsend. A Funeral Mass is set for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Townsend followed by a Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Townsend. A Reception will be held back at the church following the burial.
We would like to thank Heather, Brian, and staff at Serenity Point Living who treated Cora as their own family.

Coralee was a part of my husband Doug’s family of inlaws. and was a classmate of my husband. She was such a friendly and kind person, whom I was always glad to see and visit with at family events over the past 55 years. She loved beIng part of the Townsend community. Her life wasn’t the easiest, but she never complained.
Glad to hear that she passed peacefully. Townsend will never be the same without Coralee!
