Duane Dee Eggers left us and went home to be with Jesus on February 15, 2022. He was 92 years old. He was born on December 12, 1929 in Hamilton, MT to George Claudius and Anna Augusta Eggers. He graduated from Gifford High School in 1949. Duane married Norma Rose Griffing on August 4, 1951 in Missoula. They were blessed with three daughters Paula, Danette (Dani) and (Mary) Melissa. Duane accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1963 while attending the Bethel Baptist Church. Later he became a member and helped to build the Lolo Community Church.
In 1964 he moved his family to Lolo and into a home he and the family built. He lived in that home for 50 years before moving to White Sulphur Springs to be closer to family.
Over the course of his life he worked as a logger, in sawmills and as an electrician for Fister Electric, Washington Construction and Rawlings Construction. He “retired” after a major injury but was always working on something! Usually taking something apart!
Duane loved camping, hunting, fishing and family reunions! Many stories have been shared, and probably created, around the campfire of family reunions! He also loved going for rides!
Duane is survived by his daughters Paula (Ed) of White Sulphur Springs, MT, Danette (Gary) of Arvada, CO and Melissa (Jack) of Marysville, WA. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Samantha (Adam) Dolezal, Kris (Jen) Kautz, Angie Evans, Nick (Ashley) Dolezal, Kelsey (Zach) Wilbern, Kimmy (AJ) Burns and Mike (Tara) Dolezal. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren: AJ Star, Evie and Lily Kautz, Tyler and Augusta Evans, Ella, Easton and Emmitt Wilbern, Corbin, Barrett and Nolan Burns. He is also survived by a very special niece, Wendi Fuller.
He was preceeded in death by his wife Norma, his parents, sister Edith, brothers Glen and Gary, and granddaughter Sadie Rasmussen.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 26th, at 11:00 AM at the Mountainview Community Church in White Sulphur Springs. Burial will follow at the Mayn Cemetery. A luncheon will immediately follow that at the church.

Growing up in Lolo, attending the Lolo Community Church, youth group, Gale Fister. That is where I came into contact the most with Duane and Norma Eggers! That and the grade school is where I had most contact with their family!
Duane and Norma were the nicest people, Good People, Good Family! My Condolences to the family. God Bless!

Duane, Norma, Paula, Danette, and Melissa were our close friends and neighbors in Lolo Montana. I always thought the world of the family. Duane was always so helpful to everyone in the neighborhood. I will always have great memories of Duane in hunting camp, with the rest of the neighbors. It seemed like we were one big happy family! God Bless, – Dave Swartz

Dear Ones,
May God grant you comfort and peace. Bud and I go back many years and we have precious memories of special times at Bethel, all the hunting times Duane, Kenny and Bud had together. Our last visit when we drove to their home in White Sulphur and what a great time we had. So glad you put the obit in the Missoulian. We enjoyed your Dad and will never forget his humor.
Lovingly,
Bud & Vi Wornath

I worked with Duane at Fister Electric in the summers while in high school. He was a great mentor and made the day go by fast with his humor and pranks. We also connected as he was a logger and I came from a logging family, too. I have nothing but fond memories of those times so many years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with his daughters and grandchildren. The world is a better place because of your dad!!
