On the morning of June 15, 2016, E. Jurenne Fuchs passed away at St. Peters hospital in Helena Montana. Jurenne was 71 years old.
Jurenne was born in Townsend Montana, on December 27, 1944 to Margaret H. and Lawrence B. Poe.
Jurenne graduated from Opheim High School in 1962. She briefly attended Montana State University, before moving back to North East Montana. On June 7, 1964, she married Donald E. Fuchs at the Methodist Church in Townsend Montana. They resided in Richland Montana until Donald’s passing in 1989.
Donald and Jurenne farmed and ranched while Donald managed the Richland Cenex. Jurenne enjoyed gardening and driving a local mail route. Together they had farm land, beef cattle, registered quarter horses, raised chickens and planted large garden areas.
After Donald’s passing, she moved back to Townsend, and worked odd jobs until receiving her associates degree in accounting and beginning her career at the Office of Public Instruction in Helena Montana.
Jurenne continued her love of animals and gardening while living in Townsend. She adopted many family members from the Humane Society. She loved spending time in the mountains or at the lake camping and fishing. Jurenne was well known for her gardens and meticulous flower beds. She loved her fruit trees, vegetables, flowers, and sharing the spoils of her labor with friends and family.
Jurenne was preceded in death by her husband Donald Fuchs, her parents Margaret and Lawrence Poe, her son Roger Fuchs, and her daughter Dawn Fuchs.
Jurenne is survived by her son, John Fuchs of Townsend and her daughter Susan (Scott) Pitcher and 3 grandchildren, Tylor, Talyn and Zach of Willow Creek Montana. She is also survived by her brother Loyd (Donna) Poe of Cut Bank Montana.
Jurenne has left behind many close family and friends, including Denise Nielsen and her daughters Jaysen and Corie.
Jurenne’s family would like to thank the innumerous friends, neighbors and family who helped care for Jurenne while she battled cancer and illness. There are too many helpful angels to list, but please know, we are grateful for each of you. Mom appreciated all of your help, time, rides and love.

Jurenne was lovely and a wonderful person! I am privileged to have known Jurenne–who had a tremendous sense of humor, work ethic, love of gardening and pets, but most of all she loved her family and was always happiest, telling you about her children and grandchildren. Jurenne was a doer and I am honored to have known her. My condolences to the Fuch family.

Working with Jurenne at the Office of Public Instruction was fun. She was always full of humor and had so much knowledge of the OPI. We both enjoyed discussing our families, sports and the office. I feel so fortunate to have known Jurenne. My thoughts and prayers to her family.

Dear Family of Jurenne,
I was so shocked to come to work at the Glasgow Courier this morning and find an obituary for Jurenne. I didn’t know she had been sick. I have lots of great memories of our years together at Opheim HS. My deepest sympathy to Susan, John and to Loyd and all her family.

This caught a lot of us by surprise. Seems that we are losing a lot of old friends recently. But, they remain a fond memory forever……Richland, Mt. isn’t even on the map, but a lot of wonderful people lived there, including the Fuchs family. Our condolances to John, Susan, and Loyd….she will remain in your hearts forever, and will be happy to be united with Donald, Roger and baby sister Dawn.

Susan, John and Lloyd,
I am so sorry to hear of Jurenne’s passing. I have such fond memories of her and Don, and especially of babysitting Susan and Roger. She gave me my first job. Jurenne leaves a legacy for the Richland community in so many ways, but especially with the local history book she compiled, the bicentennial activities she coordinated, and numerous other community, church and school events. I will most of all remember her wonderful laugh! My sincere condolences on your loss.
