Erma June (Penny) Edden Bright went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 14, 2019. Penny was born June 3, 1939 in Helena Montana and spent her early years in Moccasin Flats and the upper south side of Helena. She was proud of her Metis heritage. She missed seeing and being around her family members that had gone on before her, most recently aunt Caroline. In the early 1950’s, she saw Cecil Ray Bright in his Navy uniform, who at the time, was in the Korean conflict. She knew he was the man for her. They later married in 1958 where mom settled in being a housewife and mother. Mom was a good cook and kept a very clean house. If she couldn’t see her friends every day, she settled for the next best thing and talked to them on the phone. She always loved horses and in her younger years she loved riding and watching horse races. I imagine she is riding with her friends Julie and Sharon next to Jesus on her favorite horse Molly. She was a shy and private person and was also funny and feisty, ornery and loving. She was always up for a good party, she loved good music and she loved to dance. She is preceded in death by her husband Ray, parents Irving aka Ole and Mary (Belgarde) Edden, all of her siblings including her three brothers Norman, Swede and Bud, her two sisters Esther and Shirley, one son Thomas Lee who was born too early and most of her good friends. She is survived by her sons Travis Bright of Helena, Jim Bright of Helena, daughter Cindy (Steve) Hoy of Townsend, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and her two friends Pearl and Elma. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Montana State Veterans Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at American Legion, 3095 Villard Ave in Helena. See ya on the other side mom! Please visit below to offer the family a condolence or share a memory of Erma.

To Penny’s family, I am so sorry for your lost. She was truly a great woman and friend to my mom Julie and I know the ladies are having a blast catching up on old times and telling stories to each other. We well see them again and be sure your mom is watching over all of you.
