Eugene Melroy Dreidlein was born to Mabel and Elmer Dreidlein. He was raised in White Sulphur Springs and graduated from the local high school in 1950. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country from 1951-1955.
After serving in the Air Force, Gene lived in Great Falls, working with his brother in-law, Delmer Davis, in an excavation business. He married Rose Smith and welcomed a daughter, Jo. They were later divorced.
Gene returned to White Sulphur Springs and began working for the Meagher County Road Crew eventually becoming the supervisor and retiring in 1996. His love of excavation work became very apparent when he purchased his first backhoe in the late 1960’s starting “Dreidlein Excavation”. In 1967 he married Sandra Blair and was blessed with two step sons, Rod and Randy, and together they had their son Gene.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Evelyn and great granddaughter, Ivy. He is survived by his wife Sandra Dreidlein, his daughter Jo (Ernie) Bingham, sons, Rod (Kim) Stidham, Randy (Trish) Stidham, Gene (Melody) Dreidlein; grandchildren, Kendra (Dayton) Poser, Keisha Hemshrot, Bud Bingham, Jacob Bingham, Mikayla Bingham, Brandon (Holly) Stidham, Justin Stidham, Amanda Stidham, Andrea Stidham, Cassie (Dave) Wilkie, Darcy (Jerry) McGee, Brady Stidham, Ashley Stidham, Nichole (Pat) Bergan, and Tyler (Brandi) Dreidlein. He is also survived by his 24 great grandchildren; Emma, Makai, Ava, Faith, Grace, Joy, Kaydee, Kiriana, Jayden, Dominick, Isaac, Piper, Brayton, Noah, Conner, Tralynn, Kaylee, Pantera, Rebecca, Jerry Lee, Zavyer, Awstyn, Awbrey, and youngest; Caden who was born on Gene’s Birthday.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 at the Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 103 E. Garfield Street in White Sulphur Springs. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22 at the Yoked Parish in White Sulphur Springs. Graveside Services with Military Honors will follow at the Mayn Cemetery. A coffee hour will follow at the Yoked Parish.

I am deeply saddened by Gene’s passing. He was such a fine man with the good qualities of the Dreidlein family. We were very close as children, being cousins. I have nothing but good memories of Gene. I know his family will miss him deeply. Rest in peace, dear cousin.
