Fern Demaray
July 25, 1932 – November 11, 2024
White Sulphur Springs, MT
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Fern Demaray, 92, of White Sulphur Springs, who peacefully left this world on November 11, 2024. Born in Topeka, Kansas, to William and Louise Baker, Fern was nurtured in a loving household, surrounded by the warmth of her five siblings.
In 1974, she found her home in Broadview, MT, where she poured her heart and soul into raising her seven beloved sons. In 1985, she relocated to White Sulphur Springs, a community she embraced with open arms and cherished deeply. In 2008, Fern’s heart blossomed once more when she found love with Gordon, whose presence illuminated her life. Their wedding on September 3, 2011, surrounded by family and friends, was a cherished day, as she often beamed with pride when sharing stories of her great-grandson, who arrived just three days prior.
Fern’s adventurous spirit shone through her many travels with Gordon in their motorhome. Together, they created a tapestry of joyful memories—four-wheeling, fishing, and gathering with family. With love, Gordon and a few of her sons built her a beautiful home, a sanctuary where she wished to remain until she was reunited with Gordon. In her later years, the devotion shone brightly as her 3 of sons took turns lovingly caring for her.
Over the years, Fern’s vibrant spirit filled the Lane Bar, where her infectious laughter and friendships blossomed, often over a game of darts. She cherished solving puzzles with her sons and grandchildren, creating moments that will forever be etched in their hearts. Fern’s delightful sense of humor brought light into every room; her family will always remember her playful antics, like the time she playfully tossed a potato at a loved one and accidentally hit him between the eyes.
An avid adventurer, Fern delighted in her son Bobby’s three-wheeler rides and proudly celebrated his racing accomplishments, relishing each story he shared. Her garden, filled with blooming flowers and lush green grass, served as a testament to her nurturing spirit, as did her beloved swing—a reflection of her resilient and positive outlook on life.
Fern’s love knew no bounds; it extended beyond her sons to her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were lucky enough to call her “Grandma.” Her heart overflowed with joy during family reunions, especially on the Fourth of July, when she took great delight in cooking and celebrating the love that filled the air amidst the fireworks.
Fern is survived by her devoted sons: Richard (Fran) Baker, Willie (Tina) Tipton, Keith (Jan) Tipton, Ronnie Tipton, Bobby Tipton, Ralph Tipton, and Kenny Tipton. Her legacy lives on through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who carry forward the joy and love she instilled in them.
As we honor the memory of Fern Demaray, let us celebrate a life beautifully lived—a life filled with love, laughter, and countless treasured moments. May her spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
Whispers from the Stars
From the heavens where I softly dwell,
I send my love, a gentle swell,
In the rustle of leaves and the sigh of the breeze,
Know that I’m with you, my heart at ease.
Though distance parts us, my spirit stays near,
In every memory, I’m forever clear,
With every sunrise that paints the sky,
I’m there in the warmth, in the light up high.
When shadows fall and the night feels long,
Listen closely, for I sing our song,
In chirping crickets and the moon’s soft glow,
Feel my presence, as love will flow.
I watch your journey, each step you take,
In laughter and joy, I share your wake,
Though I may be gone from this earthly plane,
My love’s an echo that will always remain.
So when you feel a soft, loving touch,
Or sense my smile that means so much,
Know that I’m here, wrapped in your heart,
Together, my dear, we’ll never part
-Barb
