On the afternoon of July 31, 1971 Dennis came into the world too early and on the afternoon of June 5, 2014 Dennis left in the same manor, too early and too suddenly.
Dennis was born in Terry, Montana to Eleanore McMahon-Holthues and Gary McMahon. He grew up and attended school in White Sulphur Springs, Montana. Dennis graduated in 1989 but even before then he had discovered that logging was his true love.
Dennis started selling firewood in 1982, with the help of his best friend Dusty. Throughout the years he would try his hand at many jobs including helping out the local ranchers or fixing cars, but it always led him back to the woods or at least to Dixon and Dixon Post and Pole. Dennis was a hard worker and was willing to work doing just about anything, including working at a newspaper office and cleaning motel rooms.
Dennis was never married but he was loyal to his friends. He always had time to help those in need. When his friends were in trouble he was the first one to get them to an AA meeting or be there for support. He split and carried wood in for the neighbors and even gave firewood to those who couldn’t afford to buy it. During hunting season he was the first one up in the morning. The fire would be roaring and the coffee on long before everyone else got up.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and camping in the woods. As long as Dennis was outside he was happy. Dennis would bring home wildflowers for his mom with every trip to the woods.
Dennis is survived by his mother Eleanore Holthues; father, Gary Dennis McMahon; sister, Julie (Scott) Rader; his nephew, Brayden Rader and numerous uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his step-dad, Berre Holthues; grandparents Frank and Eva Risler and grandparents; Howard and Tress McMahon.

Please know that you had a beloved son and brother. Dennis had a heart of gold. He was an intelligent, funny person. He was always very respectful to me. He was my friend. There will be a void without him. There are a lot of great memories of Dennis. Keep those memories close and let go of the rest. He is in God’s hands now!
