Gerald was the sixth child of Gustaf L. and Margaret (Nelson) Sanderson. His brothers and sisters; Eileen (Powder) Thompson, Norman (Myrna) Sanderson, Ronald Sanderson, Gordon (Shirley) Sanderson and Enid Dawn Sanderson.
Gerald married the love of his life, Susan E. Breyer, on December 9, 1961, in Townsend, Montana. Gerald and Susan had three sons Forrest (Tina), Raymond (Cathy), and Dale. Grandsons Dylan and Gerald. Granddaughters Carrie (Aaron) Graham, Kacie (Dan) Kolar, Allannah Sanderson, Tori (Michael) Martin, and Tawni (Branden) Webber. Great granddaughters Abigail and Elizabeth Graham, Lilly and Mesa Kolar, great grandsons Tillmann and Nikolai Martin.
Gerald worked hard, an ethic he learned from his parents and elder siblings. Like his brothers and sisters, he worked on the family farm near Toston but his career and love of electronics started when Clarence Fisher hired a bright young man to work at Fisher’s TV and Appliance Repair. To make ends meet for his young family he worked a second job at Grover Motors. In 1964 he went to work for the Bell System, in Helena. He stayed with the Bell System until he retired in 1995. To say he retired, isn’t the whole story, he took jobs that allowed him to tinker and fix things at his own pace and given time and a good set of mechanical drawings there was nothing he was incapable of repairing.
Gerald Weldon Sanderson, born May 30, 1940 in Townsend, Montana, passed February 28, 2022 in Laurel, Montana, with his wife of 60 years by his side. He was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather, an avid outdoorsman, and able to fix anything but our broken hearts…..We will miss you dad!

Sorry for your loss. I do remember when Gerald worked for Clarence Fisher. He was ahead of his time when it came to electronics. Another thing I remember about the Sanderson family that Dad told me about was Gerald’s Dad, Gus, was the only Broadwater county man who helped build the Toston Dam. This is still something we use many years later. Our prayers are with you.
