James “Jim” Ernest Smith, 77, of Townsend, MT passed away at his home, which he loved, on Friday, October 23, 2020 surrounded by his beloved wife Christa and his son Michael.
A private family burial with military honors has taken place at Fort Harrison Veteran Cemetery.
Jim was born in Talladega, AL to parents Ruth and Lathan Smith. Following high school, Jim enlisted in the U.S.M.C. where he proudly served four years during the Vietnam War.
Following his return home, he and Christa began their family having one son, Michael. Jim was a diesel mechanic all throughout his working career. He loved watching old western movies and working in the garden.
Jim will be forever missed but will remain in the hearts of his family and friends, as well as with his family in Alabama and in Germany.
