James “Jim” William Holland Jr., of Townsend, MT, passed away on December 10, 2021 following many years of heart disease.
Jim was born in Chula Vista, CA on October 5, 1959 to Nancy and Jim Holland, Sr. He graduated from Broadwater High School in 1979. He went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force which gave him many interesting stories and the opportunity to meet his wife Sarah in England. They were married on January 28, 1985 in the London England Temple for time and all eternity.
Jim then returned to the States with Sarah where he attended Montana State University, ultimately earning his Secondary Education Degree focused on Social Studies in 1989. They soon settled down in Townsend with their growing family. Jim spent the better part of the next three decades teaching History and Government at the local school, some of those years pulling double duty as Athletic Director.
Jim was a big man with an even bigger heart. He loved his family, his town, his school, and his church. He enjoyed sharing stories with friends old and new. He lived a great life filled with his work as a teacher, time with his family, and serving the people of Townsend. Some of his other passions included following BYU Sports, appreciating good sci-fi, helping with the Canton Church restoration, and an annual rewatching of the entire The West Wing TV series.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sarah; mother, Nancy; sister, Jackie(Stan); sons, Billy(Johanna), Robert(Amanda), Matthew(Brittanie); daughters, Katie and Elizabeth; grandchildren, Rosalee, Devon, Michael, Liam, Emilia, Daphne; numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws on both sides of the pond. He is preceded in death by his father, Jim Holland Sr, and his brother, Paul.
A Celebration-of-Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday December 26, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints’ chapel (916 Broadway St. Townsend, MT).
