In Memory Of

John C. Pavao age 71, of Townsend

February 7, 1945 – August 24, 2016

John Charles Pavao, 71, of Townsend, MT, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, MT.

John was born to John and Martha Pavao in New Rochelle, NY, on February 7, 1945.  John’s mother moved him and his sister, Joni, and brother, Edmund, to the small town of Seltzer, PA, after their father passed away when John was a teenager.  John graduated from Pottsville Area High School and later married his wife, Peggy, in 1966.  He and Peggy had their one-and-only child, John C. Pavao,  Jr., in 1967.

John owned and single-handedly operated his own garage, Pavao Automotive, for 10 years before starting a career as a line worker and machine maintenance worker with Exxon Chemicals, later to become Tredegar Corporation, in 1984. John continued to work for Tredegar until he retired in 2009.

John and Peggy moved to Townsend, MT, in 2009, to reunite with their son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. John was a loving husband, brother, uncle, father, and grandfather, and a dear friend.

John loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, shooting, reloading, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed watching and photographing the amazing mountain scenery, sunrises, sunsets, and abundant wildlife from his home in the foothills of the Big Belt Mountains outside of Townsend.  John was also an avid pet lover.

John was preceded in death by his father, John Maio Pavao; mother, Martha Pavao; and sister, Joni Furman.

John is survived by his wife, Peggy; son, John C. Pavao, Jr., and his wife, Molly Pavao, of East Helena, MT; his granddaughters, Courtney and Christina Pavao, of East Helena, MT; brother, Edmund Pavao and his wife, Linda Pavao, of Briar City, PA; brother-in-law, Frank Klemas, and his wife, Judi Klemas, of Pine Grove, PA; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who he deeply loved.

Per John’s wishes, the family will hold a private memorial service on Wednesday, August 31. The family requests, in lieu of flowers donations be made to Lewis and Clark Humane Society, 1712 E Custer Ave, Helena, MT 59602.
