Kaitlyn “KatyBell” Ray Sereday, 16, of White Sulphur Springs joined the lord on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the family’s home. Kaitlyn, born in Missoula, MT on June 11, 1997, moved to White Sulphur in the summer of 2001 and flourished as the only daughter amidst three rambunctious brothers, her fiercely devoted parents and grandparents, and many loyal friends.
Throughout her life, Kaitlyn carved out a reputation as a spirited competitor who prided herself as a goal setter and getter with an instinct for excellence. Whether downhill skiing, playing volleyball, waterskiing, or riding motorcycles with her brothers, Kaitlyn’s adventurous spirit begged for others to follow – and always, KatyBell pulled it off with a sense of style and picture-perfect Mary Kay make-up compliments of Grandma Pam.
Kaitlyn teemed with vivacious energy and one of her more recent accomplishments involved her role in organizing a mission trip to Oregon for her congregation’s youth. Although her life was short, perhaps Kaitlyn’s legacy will be in her generosity in handing love over to others. Her determined air, erupting into a contagious laugh and illuminating smile will be forever cherished. So, when you find yourself at a roundabout, take an extra loop for Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn is survived by her parents, Shane and Nicolle Sereday; brothers Austin (Allie Ulrich), Evan and Rylan Sereday; grandparents Dave and Sue Sereday, and Ron and Pam Jackson (all of White Sulphur Springs); and Great-grandmothers Lorraine Rohweder and Ruby McAlpine. She is preceded in death by great-grandparents Henry and Opal Sereday, Ray Rohweder and Tom McAlpine.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Yoked Parish located at 411 E. Jefferson in White Sulphur Springs. Funeral services celebrating Kaitlyn’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the White Sulphur Springs High School Gymnasium. Interment will follow at Mayn Cemetery. We were so sorry and deeply saddened to hear of your terrible loss. Kaitlyn had such great spirit and determination. I’ll never forget her slamming her ski pole down in frustration after her second crash on the big jump at the Big Sky downhill a couple years ago. Most would have laid on the ground for a few minutes to regroup, but not Kaitlyn – jumped right up and was raring to give it another go. She will be dearly missed. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers.
Dan and Jeanie (Jeanette) Heyder; Terry and Jeff Metzger says
