Obituary for Katherine (Kathy) June Turney
Katherine June (Cudney) Turney, 76, passed away in her home in Townsend on November 5, 2020 following a long battle with cancer. She was born on June 13, 1944 in Big Timber, Montana, the daughter of Frank Leroy (Roy) Cudney and Ethyl Dorothy (Myers) Cudney of Greycliff.
Kathy graduated from Ennis High School in 1962. She met her husband Gary in the Madison Valley that same year. They were married in 1962 and resided in McAllister. They were married nearly 51 years when Gary preceded her in death in 2013. They had three sons while living near Dillon and in Butte before settling in Townsend in 1968. Kathy worked for the Broadwater County Health Clinic as a certified Food Service Supervisor for 39 years prior to her retirement in 2006. She loved her family and family gatherings, fishing, following the Montana Old Time Fiddlers, listening to country music, and playing cards, especially pinochle – and Elvis and Josh Turner of course!
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents (Roy and Ethyl), her husband Gary, and her brother Grant. Surviving Kathy are her sons; Glen (Caroline) – San Antonio, TX, Gary (Kris) – Townsend, and Bruce (Kindra) – Townsend; her grandchildren – Amber, Hannah, Taylor, Amanda, Kimberly, Dillon, and Kynzlee; her great grandchildren – Rylee, Kroy, Reese, Sawyer, Greyson, and Andy. She is also survived by her aunt (Yvonne Turney), uncle (Speed Kingrey), numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at Trailhead Christian Church on Friday, November 13 at 10 AM. An interment will be held in Ennis, MT following the service for family and those that wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that those that wish consider donating to the American Cancer Society or the church or charity of their choosing.

Kathy was a very special lady, she always had time to stop and say Hello.
I have many fond memories of Kathy when we worked at the hospital and clinic in Townsend.

Katherine was a friend of mine since we met in high school in 1959…she had a great sense of humor, and was a person whose friendship, as well as her memory, I will always cherish. I hope that we meet again on the “other side.”
