Keith M Thomas, age 87, died March 1, 2019 due to complications of COPD and age. Keith was born in Marysville CA on January 16, 1932 to Linden and Effel Thomas. The second of 6 children. He grew up spending time in California and Idaho, where his mother’s family were farmers. In 1949, Keith joined the Idaho National Guard and served in the National Guard until 1952 when he joined the Air Force. He told many stories of his time in Alaska during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1956. In 1959 he married Judy Schrock and moved to Montana, where he made his home for the rest of his life. This union produced his three children, Sanoa, Yvonne and Linden. Keith and Judy were divorced in 1971. In 1972 Keith met the love of his life, Roxie A Krouse and they were married December 15, 1972. They made their home in Helena where Keith worked for the City of Helena Street Department until retiring in 1993. Keith loved to hunt, fish and camp. He and Roxie spent many weekends out by a lake, river or stream in the Augusta and Helena area. They spent their retirement traveling all over the country and to Mexico. When they were not traveling, they made their home for many years in Lolo MT until Roxie grew too ill to live at home, so they came to Townsend MT to be closer to Keith’s daughter, Yvonne.
Keith was proceeded in death by his parents Linden Thomas and Effel Jensen Thomas, his brothers Darwin, Marvin and Ross Thomas and his sister Elizabeth Thomas.
Keith is survived by his wife of 47 years, Roxie K Thomas, his brother Delbert Thomas, his children, Sanoa Thomas, Yvonne T Sutliff and Linden (Diana) Thomas; his grandchildren – Charles (Shelley) Pulse, Amber Peden, Amanda Sutliff, Kevin Tamme and Sean (Jenifer) Thomas; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and per his request, there will be no funeral. A celebration of life will be held in his honor and his ashes scattered at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Wounded Warrior Foundation or any other veteran related charity would be appreciated.
