Charles Kent Kirksey was born May 4, 1946 in Idaho Falls, ID to Samuel F. Kirksey and Ann Ragen Kirksey, and passed away from natural causes April 13, 2015. He graduated from Broadwater County High School in 1964 and attended Montana State University. He also was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve.
In November 1968, Kent married Cindy Holland. To this union two daughters were born – Shelby Kirksey Nordhagen (Daren) and Amanda Kirksey (Curtis) Warren. Kent was a farmer all of his working life, raising sugar beets, grain and potatoes. He poured his life into his passion – raising good seed potatoes. He will be remembered as a hard worker and a man who loved and respected the land.
In addition to his wife and two daughters, Kent is survived by his mother Ann Kirksey, his brother Steve (Janet), his sister Cindy Fretheim (Mike), granddaughter Audrey Warren and several nieces and nephews.
Kent was a member of United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering at the Broadwater County Museum and Broadwater Health Center.
A public viewing will be held Thursday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Stevenson-Wilke Funeral Home in Townsend. Per his request, private graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Broadwater Health Center or the Broadwater County Museum.

Cindy, Steve and all of your families,
I am so saddened to learn of Kent’s passing. Ever since first grade, I thought he was one of the cutest guys around. I loved going with J. Garrison to inspect sugar beets or potatoes at your home place in case I could catch a glimpse of Kent! I regret that I did not have the opportunity to catch up with him for many years. May he rest in peace and may you all have a fine time discussing good memories.

So sorry. Kent was with us for too short of a time. Remember the good times. Randy

Hi Cindy. I was Kent’s roommate at MSU in 1966/67. I met you also then. I remember Kent as a very good person, and mostly I remember the strong feelings he had for you. It seemed to me that he was way overboard, but then I didn’t understand because at that age I myself had not been in love. I know he will be missed.

Cindy, I was so saddened to hear of Kent’s passing. Although it has been many years since I’ve seen you, there are still many memories of you as a great friend and neighbor in Townsend. I particularly remember how excited you were when Kent was returning home from basic training. I remember him as a quiet man who obviously cared for you deeply. Cherish your memories.
