On the evening of April 14, we lost a very special member of our family. Louise was an amazing wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Louise died peacefully at T.L.C. Assisted Living in Townsend after recently celebrating her 80th birthday.
Louise was born February 8, 1936 in Williston North Dakota, the third child of five to Albert and Irene Lillethun.
Louise worked many years as a secretary for the Montana State Health Department, H and H Secretarial Services, Hooks and Budewitz Law Firm, The Montana Senate and Montana House of Representatives, as a personal secretary for Governor Stan Stephens during his term in office, and Louise finished her working career as a legal secretary for Tom Budewitz Law Firm.
Louise married Larry Sullivan January 1, 1955 at Fort Richardson in Anchorage Alaska. Louise and Larry celebrated their 61st anniversary this year. Larry and Louise had four children, Michael, Kerry, Kristine and Kelly.
Mom loved gardening, playing cards, lunch with friends, sewing costumes, prom dresses, Barbie clothes, reading, animals of all kinds, watching the Kentucky Derby, the Denver Broncos, but most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Two very special four legged companions shared moms life-Amber and Bear.
Louise was a 40-year member of the Women’s Legion Auxillary, Broadwater Cowbelles, and a lifetime Red Cross Blood Donor. Mom always enjoyed her monthly pinnocle card parties with her great lady friends.
Louise was preceeded in death by her only son Michael, her parents Al and Irene, siblings, Kermit, Gary, Jeannine and Jim and a very close friend, Mary Lou Meyer.
Louise is survived by her husband Larry, daughters Kerry (Jeff) Stocks of Evanston, Wyoming, Kristine Sullivan of Townsend, Kelly Sullivan (Jerry) of Havre; grandchildren Brittany (Jacob) Szudera, Belgrade, Shane Kemmer, Bozeman, Kaitlin Stocks, Hohenwald, Tennessee, Paige Stocks, Evanston Wyoming; great-grandchildren Amaya, Brody, Cason and Drake Szudera.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Tiffany, Valisa and Penny of T.L.C. Assisted Living in Townsend where mom spent the last three months of her life. Mom never complained through the years of heart problems, cancer, COPD and the loss of her son. Until we meet again, mom, we love you and miss you. P.S. Tell Mike hello!

Hugs to Larry and you girls…I always enjoyed visiting with Louise and playing cards with her – we are out of state and are sorry we can’t attend her service. Please know we will be thinking of you all…

When I took over the job of Chief Clerk of the Montana House of Representatives, my first thought was to talk Louise Sullivan into helping me. She and I plotted and planned, laughed and grumbled, and made the House a better place for elected representatives and our staff. I loved her, respected her ideas, and shared her great love for the legislature and Montana. I love you, Louise.
