Lowell E. Johnson died on December 22, 2012 in Townsend, Montana at the age of 92. He was born July 12, 1920 in Kerkhoven, Minnesota to William O. and Christie (Myhre) Johnson. Lowell grew up in Bemidji, Minnesota. In 1942 he entered WWII enlisted in the US Army. He served in the European theater; including the Rhineland, Northern France and Ardennes.
He married Marcella May Roettger in 1954 and together they raised three children. Lowell was a long-time logger and built many roads throughout Montana. He was often found in a cafe enjoying coffee and conversation. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Masons (Valley Lodge of Townsend AF & AM).
Lowell is survived by: His two daughters; Lola and Sandy, and son Robin. His sisters; Celesta, Delores and Joyce, and brothers; Maurice, Donald and Larry. His grandchildren; Eric, Elyse, Kyle, Courtney and Bradley. His great-grandchildren; Chely, Angelica, Eric Jr., Nevaeh, Samantha, Syrah, Jeremiah and Natalia.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marcella, daughter Lila, brothers; Howard and Russell and sister, Opal.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28th from 12-6pm at Stevenson Wilke (Formerly Connors) Funeral Home. Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held on Saturday, December 29th at Stevenson Wilke at 3:30pm. Interment and further services will be held in Pony Lake, Minnesota. Contributions may be made to charity of choice.
