Lynne Arensmeyer, 67, of Townsend, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on January 3, 2013. She was born in Billings to Walt and Victoria Braaten on December 3, 1945. Lynne grew up in Big Timber with her mother and two brothers, graduating from Sweet Grass County High School in 1963.
Lynne married Tom Arensmeyer in July of 1966 and, after living for a while in Glacier Park, Missoula, and Willow Creek, they moved to Townsend in 1968. Lynne worked for Broadwater County for over 30 years as the Administrative Assistant in the County Attorney’s office, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. Lynne and Tom raised two children together, Steve and Julie.
Lynne was an avid quilter, filling the homes of friends and family with all sorts of quilts and wall hangings. She enjoyed working with other quilters and spent time teaching others the art of creating beautiful quilts. Lynne loved all animals, especially dogs. She was a long-time member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School for many years. She also enjoyed playing the piano for residents of the Broadwater Rest Home during her lunch hour on Fridays.
Lynne was known throughout the Townsend community for her positive outlook, wonderful sense of humor, and lighthearted approach to life. She always had a twinkle in her eye and a kind word for everyone. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.
Lynne is preceded in death by her mother Victoria, her father Walt, and her brother Jerry. She is survived by her brother, David Andrew, her husband Tom, her son Steve, his wife Tawny and kids Claire and Anna of Cheney, WA, as well as her daughter Julie Pelowitz, her husband Shawn and their children Grace and Thomas.

My most sincere sympathies to Tom and family, and to Andy. I grew up with “the Braaten kids,” our families sharing 4th of Julys, Thanksgiving and many lesser celebrations. I’ve not seen nor been in touch with the family for years, but they remain in my heart — and I wish God’s blessings on each of you.

Lynne was an amazing wife, mom, grandmother and such a special friend to our family. Her level of faith, unbelievable sense of humor, love of animals (especially dogs and turtles), and knack for putting things into persepective is only something we can aspire to. She loved to travel (especially to Hawaii), enjoy time with family and friends, play with kids, take walks with Tom and Marty, swim with the dolphins, tell wonderful stories and of course quilt. The memories we have of our times together are something we will cherish forever. We love you Lynne.

Our sympathy to all of you, our thoughts and prayers as well. We are so honored to be able to say Lynne was an amazing friend to our family. She will live on through all of your beautiful family, as you were the light of her life. Lynne was so patient and kind, we are living proof of that, patiently trying to teach me to quilt and also for us being miserable failures at dog sitting! Our love to all of you. May you feel her beautiful grace and faith wrapping you in a hug through the days to come.

Lynne was such an amazing woman! She always had a smile on her face no matter what. She was a great encouragement to me and I thank her for that. I grew very fond of Lynne and Tom because of how they were with eachother and how they were so happy even though things were so tough. I eventually got to meet Julie and Steve and a couple of the Grand kids and it was wonderful and Lynne had talked about them coming for quite sometime before they arrived and just how excited she was to have them all there with them. I can remember Lynne telling me how proud she was of her Grand Kids and how she loved them so much and with a great big smile on her face the whole time 🙂 Lynne will be truely missed and always remembered. Until we meet again Lynne 🙂 My thoughts and Prayers are with Tom, Julie, Steve and all the wonderful Grandkids and the rest of the family. Let me know if there is anything I can do ever.

Tom and Family,
Tom, we were so shocked to see Lynn had passed away. We do not get the newspaper. She was always such a friendly happy lady. I always was happy to see her in the Court house. She was such a good mother and you and Lynn set a great example for how a good marriage should be. Our prayers are with you and your beautiful family. Lynn will be very busy upstairs, and I know she is with all of you daily here on earth.
