Maria Silvana “Pocha” Marcuzzi, 66, of Townsend passed away March 4, 2020. She was born June 29th 1953 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Miguel Portillo and Ana Fernandez.
Maria attended school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She immigrated to the United States in 1974, here she met and married Jorge Marcuzzi on January 10th 1975 and had her two children, Debbie and George Michael. She moved to Montana from California with her family in November 1992
She owned and operated Silvana’s Place in Santa Ana California and continued her ownership ventures with Townsend Personal Care in Townsend Montana. Anyone who knew Maria would attest to her entrepreneurial spirit and strength in running her own business.
Maria loved her family and enjoyed traveling. She visited many different countries with her children including seeing family while taking trips to Italy and in Spain. She loved the outdoors and camping by the creeks. She loved to pick wild flowers and wild raspberries in Deep Creek. She was an excellent cook and made her family traditional Argentine dishes. She was also an accomplished knitter and seamstress. Wherever Maria went, she dressed in style and conveyed an air of elegance, presenting her and her family with respect and dignity.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Jorge, her daughter, Debbie Webb (Hank) and her grandchildren Jorja and Logan. She is also survived by her son, George Michael (Michelle Dozier), her mother Ana Fernandez, Brother Miguel “Lolo” Portillo, sister Marcela Portillo, and Sister Patricia Vogl (Brian). The surviving family continues to her sister in law, Shirley Newbold (William), brother in law, Dante Marcuzzi (Darlene), Nephews, Coleman “Nicky” Warner (Bianka) , Giordano Warner (Beth), Brandone Warner (Merissa), Sebastian Portillo, Dante Marcuzzi Jr. Nieces, Sarah Johnston (Erik Carlson), Julie (Craig) Occhiato, and Darlene (Jared) DiBenedetto. She is also survived by lifelong friends, Dr. Nicholas Campbell and Neal Hagedorn.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12th at Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 212 Broadway in Townsend. Burial will follow the service at Deep Creek Cemetery.
