On October 11, 2017, Marie B. Bucy peacefully took Jesus hand and went home. She passed away at Broadwater Health Center in Townsend surround by her children. She was 92 years old. Mom was born March 18, 1925, to Orson and Nell (Weaver) Edens in Kalispell, Montana. She was raised in Townsend except for a short time in Port Arthur, Texas. Her father died September 2, 1928. In 1932, Jerry H. Stockburger became her father, and she was welcomed into the extended Stockburger family.
Mom started school at four in the rural school where her mom taught and graduated in 1942 from Broadwater County High School. In 1947, she married the love of her life, Robert Bucy enjoying 52 years together. Together they raised daughter Trudi and two sons, Jerry and Bill. She often remarked that it was amazing that an only child ended up a part of a family of 3 children, eleven grandchildren 2 step granddaughters, and 27 great grandchildren.
Her favorite career was as wife, mom, grandmother and homemaker with some supplemental adventures in retail and as partner to Dad in his many business ventures. Mom retired in 1993 after 20 years at Francisco Pharmacy where she loved the student workers and the many children who shopped at the candy counter. Many called her Grandma.
Mom’s favorite times were those spent with family and friends. Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren found Grandma’s cookie jar as they came through the door to visit. She loved to garden, canning and freezing the produce. Her apple butter was a favorite gift at each Christmas in the last few years. Mom bowled for over 50 years and faithfully attended the State Bowling tournament each year. A favorite highlight was attending the National Bowling Tournament in Reno in 2004. She loved to sew, making many outfits for her children and grandchildren and having them model at Christmas for many photographs. Many fun times were spent camping and fishing with Dad. Many memorable family gatherings took place at Canyon Ferry Lake.
Mom was a member of Townsend United Methodist Church. Over the years, she was in Home Extension Club, played pinochle and enjoyed Craft Club.
Marie is survived by daughter, Trudi (Ken) Downer of Molt; sons Jerry Bucy and Bill (Vickie) Bucy of Townsend, seven granddaughters, three grandsons, two step granddaughters, twenty-seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, granddaughter Carlee Downer and great grandson Troy Bucy.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Broadwater Health Center for their love and care over the last eighteen months.

I send heartfelt condolences to all especially Trudi and Jerry, great friends of long ago. We sure need not focus on the “Condolence” aspect. Mrs. Bucy never was known to hang her head..she brought forth to all of us a happy spirit and joyous conversation. How fortunate I was to be a classmate to with her daughter, a friend of her son AND a scorekeeper for her bowling. She was one of the fun ones in league bowling. Also Mrs. Bucy followed us teens in our successes and encouraged us with praise. She was a great friend to so many, and how celebratory we should be knowing that she brought forth her pleasant personality for 92 years still bowlng into her late 70’s!!! A great life … Let’s be joyful in her memory.

The angels looked down from heaven one night
They searched for miles afar,
And deep within the distance
They could see a shining star.
They knew that very instant
That the star was theirs to gain,
So they took you up to heaven
Forever to remain.
Look down on us from heaven
Keep us free from hurt and pain,
You’ll always be within her heart
Until you meet again.
Much love and hugs to all the Bucy clan!
