Molly Sue passed away Saturday March 18th. She was born April 6th, 1942 in Butte, MT to Morris and Susie (Norman) Alex. Molly moved to Townsend when she was 3, and attended Townsend schools through the 3rd grade. The family moved to Helena when her dad began working at Caird Engineering Works, where Molly graduated from Helena High in 1960. She worked for Mountain Bell Telephone and Lewis & Clark County Welfare.
Molly Sue met and married her true sole mate Alfred Myles November 18th 1962. She went from city girl to ranch wife with ease. They were married for 54 years and had two daughters Kerri and Connie.
Ranch work became a way of life as Molly and Al worked side by side on their ranch near Winston, raising cattle. Molly especially loved swathing hay.
When she wasn’t working the ranch, she could be found at her daughters’ basketball games, regardless of distance or weather and driving far to show support (and yell at a ref or two!)
Molly was an active member of the Broadwater County Cowbells for almost 40 years, including state officer for 2 years. She was involved in the local Winston community as a 4-H Leader. Molly also was an active volunteer fireman, battling forest fires and railroad fires alongside her neighbors.
After retiring from ranch life, Molly enjoyed her family, bowling and travelling. She travelled the Western US with Alfred and found some favorite spots she loved.
She will be well remembered for her love of her family, her sense of humor, her strength and tenacity (the Unsinkable Molly Brown) and not to be left out – her amazing Fried Chicken.
Molly is preceded in death by her parents Morris and Susie Alex, sister Betty Lou(Lew)Nelson and brother Robert Alex.
She is survived by husband Alfred, daughters Kerri (Scott) of East Helena, and Connie (John) York, SC.; three grandchildren Joshua Meng, Myrtle Beach, SC; Zachary Meng, Oakdale, CT; and Kelly Moldenhauer (Kayleigh) East Helena; two great-grandchildren Makayla and Cooper Moldenhauer, sister in law Joanie Alex; cousin Billie Jean Sheets, niece Debbie Getz and nephews Jeff Nelson, Mike Alex and Chris Alex.

Our thoughts are with Molly’s family at this time of your loss. We will always remember Molly with her smile, humor and love of life. A strong woman who bounced back even when all odds were against her. She called Steve every year on his birthday 03/18 and always had something humorous to say. So very sorry we did not get that call this year… She will be missed.
