Orville “Jay” Stocks, 81, of Townsend, Montana passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 23, 2013.
Jay was born on October 14, 1931 in Harbor Beach, Michigan. He graduated from Harbor Beach High School in 1949. He was honorably discharged from the United States Coast Guard in 1952. He married Margery Anne Williams on March 6, 1953, and together they had 5 children. They moved to Townsend in 1969.
Jay is preceded in death by his son, Douglas Jay, and his parents, Guy and Gertrude.
He is survived by his wife, Margery; son Jeff (Kerry), granddaughters Kaitlin and Paige; son Mike (Peggy), grandsons Joe and J.D. (Launi) and great granddaughter Gracie; daughter Sue (Jim), granddaughters Anna and Alexandra Brammer; daughter Anne (Brian), granddaughters Katherine, Jenna, and grandson Dillon Bellew; sister Judy Shobert; brother Terry (Janet) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison in Helena, MT. A reception follow the graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion, 211 Broadway St. Townsend, MT 59644. Memorials in Jay’s name are suggested to Hospice of St. Peter’s Hospital 2475 E. Broadway Street Helena, Montana 59601.
