Patricia Ann (Shuman) Webb was born November 19, 1933 in Tremonton, Utah. She came to Montana with her parents in the early 1950’s. She started working for George Gabish Sr., and then with George Gabish Jr. at their hardware and furniture store in Townsend. She then went on to work for Clint Holland, Dr. Nash and William McKelway at the Broadwater Hospital. Dr. Nash taught her to do blood work for the two doctors. Pat was only about 19 at the time.
Pat met Bill Webb at a local dance and they were soon married on November 20, 1953. Soon after their first child, Karen, was born, Bill was drafted into the Army in 1955. She and their daughter were able to join him after his basic training was completed. After the Army, they came back to the family ranch in Crow Creek Valley. It was here that they raised all 5 of their children.
Pat cooked many a fine meals for the hay crew every summer. She would take out cold drinks for them and cookies every afternoon the entire haying season. After the kids were raised, she went back to work in Townsend at the Gambles Hardware Store. When Gambles closed its doors, she went back to work at the Broadwater Hospital. It was during this time that she helped move the old hospital to the new one. Pat liked to take care of people, and it was something she was very good at. She could always be counted on if someone couldn’t cover a shift. If she was asked, she would hang up the phone, get herself ready and go to work.
Pat retired from the Broadwater Hospital in the mid 1990’s. After she retired from the hospital she started taking care of people in her home. Over the years, she took care of 5 different people before she herself suffered a stroke.
Pat loved her gardens. She not only had the yearly vegetable garden, but her flowers as well. She also enjoyed cooking, and it’s a good thing feeding all those boys! Pat loved playing the piano, and singing with her friends and the choir. She was active in her church, and held many callings. Pat never shied away from work, and could always be counted on when needed. She was a good friend and neighbor and always helped those in need.
She is survived by her husband Bill, daughter Karen (Craig), sons Robert, Brad (Debbie), Tom and Kelly (Lenda), 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Virginia (Willard), Eloise (David), Kathy (Scott) and her brother Foy (Sherill). She was preceded in death by her parents Titus and Clara Shuman, brothers Reed and Frank and her sister Betty.
