Rhonda Kay Higgins died Thursday March 15th, 2018 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Rhonda was born in Townsend, MT to Jim and Gerri Higgins. She grew up on the family ranch in Ringling Montana and received her education in White Sulphur Springs. Growing up on the ranch she was very fond of her horses, Babe and Sally. In fact, if she could skip school to be on the ranch, that is where you would find her. She had an amazing memory even remembering calf numbers from years prior.
Rhonda worked as a home health care nurse for 17 years in Bozeman, Montana. She continued to work as a nursing aide in White Sulphur Springs when she moved home in 2012. It was an occupation that showed her love in caring for others. She also volunteered at the Castle Museum for several years and enjoyed meeting everyone who came to tour it.
The pride and joy of her life were her niece, Sarah and nephews Ethan and Dawson. She was an avid Hornet fan and didn’t miss a school program or sporting event. Ethan had recently became lovingly referred to as “her chauffer.”
Rhonda loved country western music with her favorites being Willie Nelson, the Oak Ridge Boys, and Alabama. She also was a movie buff and loved watching DVDs.
Rhonda was a true lover of people and never met a stranger. She always said hello to everyone she saw and never forgot a face or a name. She loved having coffee/breakfast at the Branding Iron where she could visit with the locals and catch up on the news. She knew all 52 of her first cousins by name and loved getting to spend time with them.
She will always be remembered for her love of the Dallas Cowboys. Rhonda will also be remembered for her love for children and family. She was a kind giving spirit that didn’t expect anything in return.
Rhonda is survived by her father, Jim Higgins, sister, Nancy Schlepp (Chris Schlepp), nieces and nephews, Sarah, Ethan and Dawson. Rhonda is preceded in death by her mother, Gerri Higgins.

Rhonda, you have always been so special to me. I babysat you for many years and worked on your ranch for one summer. You were also in a class when I did my student teaching. You inspired me with how hard you worked above and beyond others. Love you forever.

Rhonda, I got to know you when you were helping take care of my dad in 2014. Your compassionate and talented help was sure appreciated by my mom and myself. I liked your friendly outgoing attitude and was surprised with that kind of positive attitude that cancer beat you. RIP
