I am sorry this is late. I did not know until now that Richard had passed. I have to share a memory of him.
I did odd cleaning and household jobs for his mother many years ago when I was in high school. He was there much of the time. He never said much, but he always nodded at me when I came in and I liked him a lot. Like I said, he didn’t say much, but I knew he liked me in his way.
One day, Mrs. Blaisdell asked me if she was paying me enough. I told her I thought she was. She paid less than everyone else, but she always took me out to eat or for a coke or something. I never felt cheated by her. And she asked because she said Richard told her she wasn’t paying me enough. I thought that was very sweet.
