Robert Lansing Hensley was born 19 November 1919 in Bristol, Tenn. to Archemides and Verna Torbett Hensley. He passed away at Broadwater Health Center in Townsend, MT on 24 May 2016.
His family moved to Manhattan, MT in 1920 and then to the Crow Creek Valley a few years later.
He spent his life in the Toston / Townsend area except during World War II which was spent in the Army in the South Pacific. Before the war, he worked at the Keating mines at Radersburg.
After the war he came home and began a farming career which lasted for many, many years. He served on the Broadwater Missouri Water Users Association board of directors for many years. He was a good neighbor to many in the community.
On June 24, 1951 he married Gudrun Vanvig of Beach, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gudrun, and brothers Torbett, Woodrow, Joseph, George, and Thomas and sister, Margaret Poe. He is survived by his sister, Louise Determan of Boise, ID and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27th, in the Relief Society Room with a funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 916 Broadway St. in Townsend. Burial will follow the service at Deep Creek Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial in the fellowship hall of the church.
