Sherrie G. Zumbrun December 24, 1952 – August 27, 2012 Sherrie G. Zumbrun of Martinsdale, Montana formerly of Red Lodge was tragically taken from us on Monday, August 27th in Martinsdale, in a ranch accident.
Wife, mother, grandma, sister, friend and cowgirl were titles Sherrie proudly embraced. Our cowgirl has gone to Heaven. Our hearts are full of sorrow but her smile will forever be in our souls.
Sherrie was born in Columbus, Montana on December 24, 1952 to Leslie and Elizabeth Thompson. As there were only girls in the family, Sherrie became her dad’s right hand man with her love for horses, cows, and dogs. She could stretch a fence wire tighter than some men, rope a cow with one swing and still maintain her home with a flair of western sophistication.
Sherrie married Lloyd Zumbrun on September 30, 1989. Lloyd and Sherrie, with the help of son Zane and daughter Tanya, put together one of the best cow and hay operations in Montana.
We have lost a steward of the land and caretaker of animals. Sherrie was a proud person, very proud of her family and her work.
Sherrie was preceded in death by her mother, father, her grandson Cole Pelican and in-laws Lloyd Sr. and Gladys Zumbrun.
Sherrie is survived by husband Lloyd Jr., son Zane Zupan (Nichole & granddaughter Aspen), daughter Tanya Pelican (Mike, grandchildren Fallon and Chance), Sisters; Gail Thompson and Sandra Lind, and numerous nephews, nieces, in-laws and extended family.
“My home’s in Montana, I wear a bandana, my spurs are of silver, my pony is grey. While riding the ranges my luck never changes with foot in the stirrup I gallop away.”
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 4th at 2pm at the Rosebud Cemetery in Absarokee, Montana.
Arrangements by Perkins Funeral Home in Harlowton. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Coles Western Wishes.
